Guidance for those responsible for packaging decisions
The recyclability of our solutions is assessed for each specific packaging structure and application using appropriate evidence. Product-specific certificates and test reports provide a reliable basis for decision-making.
In doing so, we consider the total cost of ownership across the entire life cycle, from manufacture to recycling. What does the packaging really cost?

New Packaging Regulations
PPWR in force
The EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR) sets out the deadlines by which packaging must meet certain requirements, including those relating to recyclability. As development, prototyping and machine testing take time, it is worth planning well in advance. As your transformation partner, we work with you to develop barrier papers that are tailored to these requirements and your specific application. An overview of the key deadlines:
| Topic | Date |
| Start of general PPWR application: Requirements regarding recyclability, conformity, technical documentation and certain substance restrictions become binding. eur-lex.europa | 12 August 2026 |
| EU-wide material labelling: A harmonised label indicating material composition facilitates sorting. eur-lex.europa | 12 August 2026 |
| Design for recycling and initial target rates: Requirements for recyclability classes, packaging minimisation, void space and minimum recycled content for plastic packaging. eur-lex.europa | 1 January 2030 |
| Recyclability on an industrial scale: Packaging must be demonstrably capable of being collected, sorted and recycled on a large scale. eur-lex.europa | 1 January 2035 |
Note: Individual deadlines may depend on the adoption of relevant delegated or implementing acts.
